The Micro Canoe Camper

was an idea I got from a couple web forums I found. The first is a small boat building, paddling, camping site called Old Sparkeys Forum where I learned much about boat building and found out about Teardrops & Tiny Travel Trailers . I wanted a trailer I could camp in quickly if alone or with the wife or one of the kids, haul all the camping and outdoor gear for a bigger trip, and carry the pirogue along for the ride.
I jumped into the project with a lot of ideas of how I wanted it to be but I was shocked at how big a project it turned out to be. I am still not done with the interior. It will be a work in progress for a long time but it is fully functional right now so I am not sweating the details just now.

The windows were found on Ebay, Salvage RV parts. They are double layer glass, slide open with a screen for ventilation. The doors are made big enough so I can load larger items like deer or decoy bags. I also still use the camper as a utility trailer and load it up with about a quarter cord of fire wood for home.

The bed deck is quickly removable and supported in the middle by little plywood crosses, kind of like waterbed supports. This makes a fairly clean sleeping surface even though you had a couple bags of muddy decoys in there on you way back to camp from the duck marsh.

The Galley is pretty simple. It has a large counter top, shelves, and enough room for a cooler and a microwave under the counter. I wired it with an overhead white light and a couple amber lights on the sides that provide enough light to mix a cocktail in the dark camp without attracting bugs.

There are a couple shelves inside to store a variety of camp goodies. The sleeping deck is 51" X 75" not too roomy but it does the trick especially when it is cold outside at hunting camp a little propane heater keeps it toasty no matter how cold it is outside. There is also a roof vent with a fan that moves air through very well even in the hottest stillest nights.
